God and Abortion

As Jesus hung upon the cross, he prayed, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” Whether those who killed him knew what they were doing or not, they were guilty and needed forgiveness because they should have known. So it is with abortion. Indeed, Father, forgive us, for we know what we are doing when we abort the unborn or condone abortion or take no interest in the death of the unborn. In this two-message set John Piper shows that when we abandon God and his self-revelation as the source of what is objectively true and right and beautiful then God is dethroned and sin is the result. Jesus Christ came into the world to save men and women who have dethroned God, taken his place, defined personhood as tissue, and willed the death of their own child. It can’t be reversed, but it can be forgiven. That is why Christ died.
